- Contribute to cultural change to promote gender equality in all fields of development linked to science, innovation and technology.
- Promote access, involvement and retention of girls, adolescents and women at all levels of education - formal and non-formal - in STEM areas.
- Encourage the generation of incentives and tools that promote gender equality in the academic, business, labor, science, innovation and technology fields.
One of the main projects implemented by MIMCIT in 2016-2018 is SAGA-UNESCO (STEM and Gender Advancement) focused on providing solid evidence-based tools to governments and policy makers to increase the visibility, participation and recognition of women in STEM areas. In fact Uruguay was the pilot country to implement it. Some of the initiatives developed/implemented can be seen here.
