"The IT sector has been very focused on finance. And this is common in other countries. More IT services are also being developed for the health sector: 54 companies out of 370 in the Chamber work with the sector," said Loureiro.
"More talent is needed, but it takes time. There are jobs for everyone with an IT background. Even people who come from other professions. In Spain there are already IT doctors," he explained.
According to Loureiro, more and more Uruguayan IT companies are launching their products first abroad and then - eventually - in Uruguay. "In this sector there are no borders and if the local environment is not innovative enough, they look abroad," he remarks.
