In the first two editions of the program (2017 and 2018), 1,500 students graduated. The classes are taught by leaders from the most important technology companies in Uruguay.

In one year, students who enter this project of the Ceibal Plan will learn one of the programming languages most demanded by the industry or how to test software. In this way, they get the first tools to work in the technology sector.

They will also receive English classes and acquire transversal skills. At the end of the course, the Job Brokerage Service of Jóvenes a Programar will help them to contact companies in the sector when a job vacancy arises.

The course will provide study materials, including a computer that will be loaned to those who need it during the class period. Attendance will be in face-to-face mode or by videoconference.

In the first two editions of the program (2017 and 2018), 1,500 students graduated. This year, in order to motivate the inclusion of women in a sector with very little female presence, Jóvenes a Programar promotes the access of women to training and subsequent job search in the area.

Also in 2019, Jóvenes a Programar will open 500 places so that graduates interested in job placement can take a new course.

Jóvenes a Programar is a program of Plan Ceibal that aims at training and job placement of young people in the area of information technology, with programming and testing courses, with the support of the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology (CUTI), IDB Lab, the National Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (Inefop) and major companies in the sector.
