On 14 November, the Chamber of Industries of Uruguay celebrated another Industry Day and its 119 years of foundation, with the presence of the Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining, Ms. Carolina Cosse, legislators, authorities, members of the diplomatic corps and a large number of businessmen.

In his speech, the president of the Chamber of Industries, Mr. Washington Corallo, referred to the difficult moment the Uruguayan industry is going through, which has caused the closure of many companies and the destruction of employment and capital, putting on the table the low capacity to compete of the sector.

And he recalled that: "We must work to regain lost competitiveness in the most efficient way possible. It is essential to improve the labour legislation in force, which is often obsolete, to reach as many agreements as possible that give access to the products of our national production, and education must be aligned with the productive country project that we all have in mind.

The minister mentioned the initiatives that the ministry has supported, also in conjunction with the Chamber of Industries for some of them, promoting quality, innovation, scientific research and entrepreneurship. She added that "the industry of the future will be intelligent, or it will not be". And that the Ministry will continue to work on cooperation, analysis and action, "to protect the national industry, help it to change and generate the new national industry".
