The latest edition of CIBERLUNES, the discount day organized by the Chamber of the Digital Economy of Uruguay (CEDU), reached almost two million people, an amount equivalent to 60% of Uruguayans, registering a new record since its inception in 2014.
According to data recorded by CEDU, 86% of participants accessed the site (ciberlunes.uy) through a mobile device. Sixty-one percent did so from Montevideo, while the remaining 39% contacted the campaign from the interior of the country, where participation increased by 10% compared to the June 2017 edition.
Women, meanwhile, led the visits this time with 74% compared to men, who registered 26%. In terms of age groups, the highest growth was among those over 66 years of age, with an increase of 126%.
Brands also obtained encouraging results, as traffic on their sites was between 100% and 300% higher than usual. Fashion and footwear, Technology, Travel, Home appliances and Home and Deco were the five most visited categories during the discount days.
On the other hand, CEDU conducted a survey among consumers to evaluate the level of satisfaction in relation to the quality of offers, delivery conditions, shopping experience and payment system. On a five-star scale, the average was three and a half stars for the level of offerings and four stars for logistics, while the shopping and payment experiences exceeded four stars.
87% of respondents who made purchases during CIBERLUNES rated the experience as "very good". Seventy-four percent paid online with credit cards, followed by cash-on-delivery networks, which were chosen by 10.9% of users. Meanwhile, the use of prepaid credit cards and cash on delivery were around 7.5% each.
In terms of product delivery, 59% chose to pick up the product at the point of sale, while 41% chose home delivery.
Marcelo Montado, vice-president of CEDU, expressed his satisfaction with the results obtained and the development of e-commerce in Uruguay. "In each edition we have had a greater number of participating brands and a higher level of satisfaction with the results of sales, which have doubled and tripled. In addition, more and more people of all ages are buying products and services in this way. CIBERLUNES has become a special day for Uruguayans. We are proud to continue promoting the development of e-Commerce in the country," he said.
