The day, held last Monday, showed an increase in traffic of 125% compared to the previous edition held in November 2015 and 150% compared to a year ago.
About the results, the president of the Chamber of the Digital Economy of Uruguay(CEDU), Marcelo Montado, explained that this edition "surprised even the most optimistic". He added that "it reflected that e-commerce in Uruguay continues to develop and showed the eagerness of the local consumer to buy on the web.
The total number of sales made is not yet known, as these figures are processed by the companies directly. Anyway, Montado estimated that there was also an increase in this aspect, given the strong increase in the number of visits and the comments received from the representatives of the participating brands.
On the other hand, the businessman highlighted the shift of users to mobile platforms. "The profile of the public who participated in Cyber Monday remained the same as in the last edition, but visits from mobile phones went from 60% to 71%. Inother words, seven out of every ten people who visited the site did so from their mobile phones, a very significant increase," said Montado.
Another highlight was the increase of visitors from the interior of the country, which in this edition were three out of ten. "This was one of our goals and we were able to achieve it," said the president of CEDU and assured that the organization will continue working to further enhance the arrival of e-commerce outside Montevideo.
A new edition of Cyber Monday will be held in November this year and as in each of the previous ones, an increase in the number of participating brands is expected.
"The companies tell us that these conferences mark a before and after, since they generate a high level of exposure and position them in front of a public that increasingly turns to shopping via the web," said the head of CEDU, guild organizer of the day of online sales.
