The cycle of conferences, which will take place in the Commercial and Industrial Centre of each locality, will begin on Thursday 19 May in Libertad, and will continue on Tuesday 24 in Mercedes. In July there will be a similar agenda that will include the cities of Paysandú, Salto, Colonia, Trinidad and Maldonado.
The accountant Federico Hornes, Memory's commercial manager, explained that the intention is to make all businessmen aware of the importance of homologating their status as issuers of electronic invoices in order to comply with the new regulations set forth by the General Tax Directorate (DGI).
"At present, there are about 4,000 companies in the system, of which about 600 are still in the test phase, and on Wednesday 1 June the deadline for another 2,000 will expire. It is important to bear in mind that the implementation of the system takes between two and three months, and non-compliance entails penalties, fines, surcharges and suspension of certificates.
We want to get this message across to all departments, so that every business owner can comply with the regulations in a timely manner," Hornes said.
The DGI made a classification of companies according to their turnover, setting deadlines for homologation on 1 June and 1 December of each year until 2019. The only exception are those with a turnover of less than $79,000, but the rest must acquire the hardware and software necessary to implement the system. Memory has these services available, the actual cost of which can be reduced by 50% by applying the tax deductions approved by the DGI.
