GX29 BUILDERS KICKED OFF WITH TECH ANNOUNCEMENTS

25/09/19

With an attendance of approximately 2000 participants from more than 30 countries, the first day of a new GeneXus Meeting started. The 29th edition of the GeneXus Meeting, GX29 Builders will run until Wednesday and about 4000 people are expected.
Reading time: 2 minutes

The massive event of innovation, business and technology, "Builders" celebrates the software builder culture, in Uruguay but together with engineers, academics, designers, students and entrepreneurs from all over the world.

"Every time we do a GeneXus Meeting, one of the first things we think about is its claim. In this process we analyze the technological and business context, and from it we create the message? In the technological evolution of the last year there seems to be no new or disruptive technologies, so the message of the meeting led us to point to our essence as a software development community. If there is something that characterizes us as a community is that we are Builders". This is how the GeneXus CEO introduced the 29th edition of the GeneXus Meeting, to then present the headlines that will make up many of the topics of these 3 days, until September 25, in 180 activities that will revolve around:?

Design: From the highest level, idea design, implementation plan, business and solution design.

Technology: GeneXus Development, Architecture (Cloud, API, Integration, Serverless), DevOps (Planning, Testing, Integration, Configuration, Monitoring), Security, Testing.

Innovation: IOT, AI (Cognitive Services, Machine Learning, Deep Learning), ChatBot, BlockChain.

First day tech announcements

SAP and AI, machine learning: Jodal said that part of the strategy to continue building is to get more partnerships with leading global companies: "We have had partnerships with major technology players in the world, such as Amazon, Microsoft, SAP, among others," he announced that a Co-Innovation project was completed between GeneXus and SAP, which allows the GeneXus platform to simplify the creation of Machine Learning applications using SAP Leonardo Machine Learning Foundation services.

IoT, Hardware, algorithms, neural networks: According to the new trend in sensors, the hardware that is currently being made is of interest to Jodal because of the possibility of data processing in the sensor itself: "This year I came back to talk about hardware and it is about Edge Computing. This refers to the next generation of IoT, so that the data generated at the edge, in the sensors, can also be processed". On this stage, a sophisticated autonomous forklift called MadMax was presented.

Chatbots and new generators: Among other things that were announced on the first day, it was encouraged to generate new instances of interactions with GeneXus and its Chatbot Generator that now integrates the WhatsApp channel. On the first day of the meeting, a new Angular generator for webapps (customer-facing web applications) was also announced, as well as a new generator for mini-programs for the Chinese platforms Wechat, Baidu and Alibaba.

At the end of the closing of the first day Jodal asked himself: "What advantages does it give us to be builders? Things are constantly happening all over the place. In this context the easiest thing to do is to get distracted. So what matters is the ability to realize ideas, to execute ideas. If our function in the world is to build things, that will allow us to be focused and use the technology that serves us for what we are building.
