Gps Gay to represent Uruguay at Seedstars

The startup won the chance to go to Switzerland to compete for investment of up to US$ 500,000.

GPS GAY, the application of Rosario Monteverde and Magdalena Rodríguez that provides information on hotels, bars and gay friendly clubs, was the winner of the first edition of Seedstars World Uruguay held on Wednesday at Sinergia Cowork.

 

On March 3, 2016 the winners will participate in Switzerland in the next Seedstar World, where workshops will be held for three days between participants and international mentors for the last day to present in front of investors. Three projects will be selected, highlighting a first prize consisting of an investment of up to US$ 500,000.

 

To choose the 11 finalists of the Uruguayan phase, the idea, growth, current performance and scalability of the project for other countries were taken into account. The event consisted of the selected startups presenting in front of the jury for ten minutes, seeking to demonstrate the solutions to the problems they offered and the potential profitability of their ventures at a global level.

 

The 11 startups that participated were: CityCop, Flokzu, Glubers, GPSGay, Linguoo, Oincs, Plored, Quieroinfo, RockerHair, SlideModel and Unicorn Games.

 

The jury was composed of the partner in Prosperitas Capital Partners, Rodolfo Oppenheimer, the software manager of IBM, Angel Bertolotti, the CEO of Trillonario.com, Ariel Pfeffer, the consultant of the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII), Carmen Correa and the regional manager of Seedstars World, Enrique Alvarado. In addition, the presence of the manager of the organization for Latin America, the Swiss Lorena Edejer, was highlighted.

 

The Seedstart World

Seedstar is a platform that connects investors with young entrepreneurs, broadening the focus beyond Silicon Valley and Western Europe.
