The GeneXus Meeting, already consolidated as a technological reference in the region, had about 4000 attendees during the 3 days, in addition to about 50,000 online attendees from 29 countries who followed via streaming conferences where the inexorable changes, the opportunities that arise and how we prepare ourselves for a world crossed by software were addressed.
Artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles, blockchain, the integration between technology, people and situations, the Internet of Things; as well as new jobs and the commitment to train young people for the world ahead, were the highlights of this new meeting The Power of Doing that encouraged its attendees to prepare themselves to be part of the change.
In the words of Breogán Gonda in his conference Artificial Intelligence: Science fiction or power of doing? the attitude of doing is an essential quality: "In GeneXus we have, since our beginnings, the power of doing things. There are two components, aptitude and attitude. The latter is what characterizes and represents us". Education, Gonda continued, is a key piece, and therefore, the ideal would be to change the emphasis from teaching to learning.
The change is inexorable, beyond the debate about whether Artificial Intelligence is good or bad, the truth is that it is here to stay and the crucial point is not the technology itself but what we do with it. So how do we prepare for what's coming? It was one of the questions that hovered over the three days and that for Nicolás Jodal found the answer in people. In his lecture People + Tech, he gave an account of the future of autonomous vehicles and the human factor as a fundamental value in the development of technology.
The event, which ended as usual GeneXus between awards, enthusiasm, music and networking, was closed by the Cateura Orchestra from Paraguay, which for years has been recycling garbage to turn it into musical instruments, becoming an exciting example of social transformation. Another high point was the conference of Miguel de San Martín, NASA engineer who shared his experience in the project to explore the planet Mars, for which Curiosity was sent in 2012, and -like most of the experiences shared in the 3 days- focused the vitality of the software in human attitudes.
All the conferences are available online at the GeneXus Meeting website.
GeneXus 16, the new version released at the Meeting that adapts to today's world
On the first day of the GeneXus Meeting, the new GeneXus 16 version was released. According to Nicolás Jodal, CEO of GeneXus, it is a technology totally aligned with the event's motto "The Power of doing". "In a world where everyone talks, the one who has the real power is the one who has the ability to do. That is something that identifies us. We are a Community that has the power to do", said the CEO of the company and released the new version.
GeneXus 16 is a powerful technology that is based on multi-experience adapting to a changing landscape where the coordinates are not only set by websites and applications.
Today, the software industry builds its solutions for a universe of user-centric experiences that, in turn, use multiple devices.
Chatbots, wearable access, TV, voice and augmented reality, among other new interactions, are added to the interaction with traditional mobile or web apps. That is why GeneXus 16 has made it a priority to focus on this multiexperience, to provide the developer with a set of tools and processes that simplify the creation and maintenance of the software.
