Introducing KikApp, the new application from Devxtend. KikApp "is a tool for developing native mobile apps, it works as a language interpreter: it translates PHP code and automatically generates applications on the most widely used platforms on the market", explain Pablo Blanco and Matías Preciozzi, directors of Devxtend.
"KikApp is an innovative project that brings PHP developers closer to the mobile world and cross-platform native applications", adds Nicolás Jodal, CEO of GeneXus and sponsor of KikApp through ThalesLAB. A tool that was born with a clear objective: to generate 100% native and cross-platform applications. KikApp interprets PHP language and translates it to Android, iOS and Windows platforms.
This Uruguayan tool, sponsored since its inception by ANII for its high innovative value, recently launched its "private beta" version. "At this time it is vital that PHP developers start testing and finding opportunities for improvement. That's why we decided not to open it massively, to give the support that each new professional who joins the KikApp community deserves", say its directors. And they invite all developers who want to join the KikApp community to request the download of the tool at https://wiki.kikapptools.com/kikapp-download/.
What can you do today with Kikapp?
With this version you can generate native PHP-based Android applications with features such as:
- Access to hardware devices, calls, sms, photos and more.
- Interact with APIs such as Twitter or Facebook.
- Create client-server applications.
- Use different types of navigation.
Some apps developed with KikApp
We have published in the Android store some applications implemented with KikApp in order to show that you can develop PHP-based apps with a good user interface and quality. On the other hand we have a large number of examples on which developers can build their apps on our wiki.
And in the next version, which is almost ready, KikApp will generate native apps for IOS devices. The goal is to build, step by step, a world class tool capable of responding to the global PHP community.
