On 6 June at Zonamerica, the Ibero-American FinTech Alliance, of which Spain is a founding member and whose main objective is to promote the development of new technologies applied to finance, will be officially presented.
The Alliance will be presented in the framework of the first FinTech forum on 7-8 June.
Sebastián Olivera, FinTech leader in Uruguay and now vice-president of the Ibero-American Alliance, told InfoNegocios that this event represents a historic moment, "it will position us as a benchmark in financial innovation and as one of the pioneering countries in promoting the development of new technologies applied to finance", he said.
Aligned with the government's initiative to implement a financial inclusion law, the Alliance's main objective is to contribute to the design of FinTech regulation at the international level, so that each country can incorporate it into their regulatory frameworks. "The idea is to take advantage of the lessons learned from the most experienced countries, integrating global best practices into this regulatory system," said Olivera.
The launch of the Alliance will start at 3pm, however, the most important activity will be from 4pm to 7pm, during which representatives of the FinTech chambers will meet with regulators from the different countries of the bloc. "It will be a historic event because it is the first board meeting and the official launch of the Alliance in which we will analyse the reality of FinTech and regulation at the bloc level," said Olivera.
The founding members of the Alliance are Spain, Uruguay, Mexico, Colombia, Central America and the Caribbean, as well as Peru, Panama, Portugal and Chile. Olivera stressed that they are working to incorporate Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay.
"With the creation of the IberoAmerica FinTech Alliance, one of the most important global associations is born, representing more than 700 million people," concluded Olivera.
