For most industries, quality testing of their products is becoming more and more essential. Simplifying the definition a bit, quality is the degree of satisfaction of certain requirements with which a product complies. The software industry is no exception to the rule and this is where testing comes in.
Since a few years ago and with the advancement of this discipline, some organizations driven by their specialists sought to create spaces in which it was possible to generate and strengthen a community, sharing more experiences on various topics related to testing, building trust and strengthening ties between participants. One of the clearest results is TestingUy. The community has been celebrating for 6 years a great annual event that seeks, with this and other activities, to promote the discipline of testing at different levels.
Currently the organization is in charge of three recognized companies in the industry represented by expert engineers in the area: Claudia Badell from Infragistics Uruguay, Guillermo Skrilec from QAlified and Gustavo Guimerans from Centro de Ensayos de Software (CES).
TestingUy 2019 Summary
Thanks to the sponsors, organizers, collaborators and companies of the organization it was possible that the event was free for attendees. We worked to unite the efforts of the different people involved in the testing community, to share experiences, new technologies and knowledge.
This year we had the presence of Janet Gregory and Lisa Crispin as special guests, both world leaders in Testing and Agile Methodologies, international speakers and authors of several books on the subject. During this edition we also had the presence of Melissa Eaden, editor of Ministry of Testing, an English testing community with a strong presence in the area of Software Testing. At the end of the day on Monday, they were the protagonists of a round table on software testing and agile methodologies.

During their stay in Uruguay they had the opportunity to get to know a little bit of our country and enjoy the gastronomy, together with the organization team of the event, some attendees from abroad and speakers, and those who joined the activities proposed by the event. The organization team believes that this kind of visits and the positive comments received about the event in general contribute to the positioning of Uruguay as a reference country in the IT industry.

Almost 500 people participated in the different activities and from different countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay) both in terms of attendees and speakers. On the first day of the event, 13 workshops were held during the morning and afternoon, while on the second day the expository talks took place. In total there were 17 talks and for the first time there were two tracks of talks simultaneously.
To put together the agenda, more than 80 proposals of various kinds were received, which were analyzed by the organization and thus managed to form an agenda of very good level and with very varied topics. The day of talks was transmitted in streaming, which provided the possibility that other people from the interior of the country, as well as abroad had the opportunity to access the presentations made.
The organizers would like to thank the support of those who year after year give their vote of confidence, from their participation in the event, as well as the sponsors, organizations that support and collaborators.
Thanks to the repercussion and the interest generated by the topic, meetings (organized on the Meetup platform) have been added to the annual event for which the invitation to participate either as an attendee or exhibitor is open. This activity is also free of charge for attendees. For more information, please visit https://www.meetup.com/es/Testing-Uy/.
