Uruguay is the largest exporter per capita (in dollars) in South America and the third largest in the world, exporting software to 52 countries [1]. For this reason, collaboration between industry, government and academia is increasingly important in (almost) all areas of human knowledge (just look at what is happening today with the coronavirus). Software engineering does not escape from this. Here, in our country, the IS.uy Program has been created between the Universidad de la República and the Universidad ORT Uruguay. This program seeks to strengthen the ties between industry, government and academia regarding software engineering to give even more impetus to our industry and research in the area.
In 2018 the first Software Engineering Conference of Uruguay (JIS.uy) was organized. These conferences brought together the different stakeholders, making it possible for them to meet each other. The 2019, brought the second JIS.uy, as well as different meetups and applied research work between industry and academia. Currently the program has 26 companies from the software industry as partners, 6 agencies or state entities collaborating closely and various organizations that promote the activities including the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology (Cuti), the Association of Informatics of Uruguay (AsIAP), SmartTalent of Uruguay XXI and the Chamber of Digital Economy of Uruguay (CEDU).
This year we had to cancel the third JIS.uy. But, with the aim of keeping in touch and exchanging knowledge and ideas, the cycle of videos has been created : #QuedateEnCasa con Ingeniería de Software. In it you will find different presentations, on the one hand, several partner companies will tell how they are working and what they have had to change to work remotely. On the other hand, you will see talks on relevant and current topics of software engineering.
This series began on Monday, May 4th on the IS YouTube channel. For everyone to enjoy, the videos are available and can be accessed from the following site: https://is.uy/quedate-en-casa-2020/
