The objective of this event, created by SAP Labs Latin America, is to allow startups to apply innovation in areas such as education, public services, sustainability or social entrepreneurship. This year, the SAP Innomarathon will take place in nine countries: Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica and Uruguay.
SAP will conduct demonstrations for registered entrepreneurs on emerging technologies such as the internet of things, blockchain, machine learning or big data and then each participant must make a concept presentation that applies any of them, taking into account as a reference the global sustainability goals of the United Nations.
In July, the six startups that will go through to the first round, which will be held in a marathon format from July 18-20, will be announced. The cities where these events will be held are: Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Lima, Bogota, Mexico City, San Jose, San Juan, Montevideo and Sao Paulo.
The winning projects of the past editions were:
2017 - Bikelite: A solution for cyclists around the world; uses GPS to create safe routes that avoid the risk of accidents and other situations, such as theft or damaged roads.
2018 - Ecolones: A solution that creates a network of people who recycle, and allows them to exchange their waste for cryptocurrencies to use in stores.
The final, with the winning teams from each country, will be held on October 21 in New York. The winner will receive a $5,000 prize and twelve months of mentoring from the SAP Labs Social Responsibility team. During the process, the entrepreneurs will receive support from an SAP technology mentor who will guide them in the development of their technology solutions.
