Technology Startup Scholarship Program for the Support of Computer Engineering Education

Scholarships were awarded to students of Computer Engineering at the FING of the University of the Republic.

On Wednesday 24 October, the Julio Ricaldoni Foundation of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of the Republic awarded two scholarships to Computer Engineering students. Out of 11 applicants, the winners were Noelia Cabrera and Rodrigo Bentancor, two students who began their Computer Engineering studies this year.

 

María Simón, dean of FING and president of the FJR, Gustavo Guimerans, member of the Evaluation Committee, Martín Alcalá, representative of the promoting companies, as well as the two scholarship students spoke at the event.

 

María Simón, dean of FING and president of the Julio Ricaldoni Foundation, thanked the four companies that granted the funds and said that "it is one of the best investments they can make as they are generating more training".

 

Martín Alcalá, representative of the companies promoting the scholarships, stressed that "not only are we going to support them with capital, but the doors of our homes are always open". He also highlighted the data and opportunities in the IT industry, where "the contribution of young people is very important". "This industry has a great transformative power and we as a country can grow if we know how to take advantage of it," he concluded.

 

The four companies involved in supporting funding for these grants were: Tryolabs, Moove It, CodigoDelSur and Digital Forces.
