The Award was created in 1997 by the Specialized Meeting on Science and Technology of MERCOSUR - RECyT - with the objective of recognizing and rewarding the best works of students, young researchers and research teams, which represent a potential contribution to the scientific and technological development of MERCOSUR member and associated countries; to encourage the conduct of scientific, technological and innovation research in MERCOSUR, and to contribute to the process of regional integration among member and associated countries, by increasing the dissemination of achievements and progress in the field of scientific and technological development in MERCOSUR.
It is organized by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications of Brazil (MCTIC) and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), in addition to the institutional support of the Competitive Brazil Movement (MBC), and the Science and Technology agencies of the member countries (Secretariat of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation of Argentina, National Council of Science and Technology of Paraguay and the Ministry of Education and Culture of Uruguay) and MERCOSUR partners.
The theme chosen for the 2018 edition is "Industry 4.0", and the paper should address one more of the following lines:
- Innovation, disruptive technologies and new business models
- Agriculture 4.0
- Advanced Manufacturing and the future of work.
Candidates may apply in one of the following categories:
- Scientific initiation
- University student
- Young researcher
- Senior Researcher
- Integration
The launch of the award is simultaneous in the member and associate countries of MERCOSUR - Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Entries will be open from November 30, 2018, until May 31, 2019 until 18:00 hs (Brasilia, Brazil time) and is done only, through the website of the Award.
