The Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining, Eng. Carolina Cosse, will participate in the opening of the meeting "Women creating value in STEM areas. Advances and current barriers.

The event will take place on Tuesday, October 30 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., in the Idea Vilariño room of Antel's Telecommunications Tower (Guatemala 1075).

 

Leonardo Loureiro, president of the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technologies (CUTI) will also participate in the opening of the activity.

 

Afterwards there will be a panel discussion by:

  • Alejandra Lemos, Project Manager, Genexus Consulting.
  • Natalia Pignataro, Manager of Antel's Technical Development Division.
  • Dr. Natalia Da Silva, Institute of Statistics (Faculty of Economics and Administration, UdelaR).
  • Laura Macció, founder and CEO of Aravanlabs.

 

This roundtable is part of the project "Breaking down barriers: For more women in STEM areas" of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Engineering of the UdelaR, funded by the Sectoral Commission for Scientific Research (CSIC) through the University Fund to Contribute to Public Understanding of Issues of General Interest.

 

This project seeks to contribute to the understanding and visualization of gender gaps in the areas of knowledge and the productive sector linked to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), in which women are still underrepresented.

 

In particular, the round table "Women creating value in STEM areas. Advances and current barriers" is organized with the support of MIEM and Cuti.
