#LaMesaTIC from Cuti Business Forum

6/11/19

During #CBF2019, EnPerspectiva broadcast #LaMesaTIC live from the LATU Events Center.
Reading time: 2 minutes

How far is the Uruguayan software industry from competing in the big leagues of technology? Is the idea of setting up and selling products in the United States, the engine of innovation worldwide, a utopia?

The national IT sector is proving that the distance between Montevideo and Silicon Valley can be shortened. Sixty-five percent of software exports are destined for the United States. But in addition, there are already several Uruguayan companies installed there, selling their products.

To help generate more and better business with this, our main market in this industry, the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology (CUTI) is organizing today the first Business Forum at the LATU Technology Park Event Center.

What is missing to take better advantage of these possibilities for growth? How useful is a forum like this?

We talked about this today in a new edition of La Mesa TIC with Martín Alcalá Ruby, telecommunications and electronics engineer, CEO of Tryolabs; Ignacio González, consul of Uruguay in San Francisco, California, USA; Nicolas Amarelle, computer engineer, CEO and founder of Código del Sur; and Paula Gallotti, systems engineer, co-founding partner of Dvelop.
