The Technological University began to give telework workshops for students of the Information Technology career at UTEC, as a way to get opportunities for professionals and students in the technology industry.
In conversation with Montevideo Portal, Senator Carol Aviaga, widow of engineer Álvaro Lamé, recalled the legacy of her husband on this issue, a pioneer in promoting telework in our country.
"Álvaro was the one who promoted it, who put the idea on the table and took it to the whole country, from 2001 onwards," he said and acknowledged the work of Innoval, which was created to work on this as a way of paying tribute to Lamé and to carry out what he promoted to generate opportunities for Uruguayans.
Aviaga highlighted the need to learn "where to publish, where to promote what you know how to do, depending on where people are looking for your service or your product" and the possibility of "working anywhere in the world from here".
The senator said that in the case of information technologies there is a great potential for development, but it is limited by the lack of training. "Uruguay is very well positioned internationally in the field, but it has to adapt education to new forms of development and new opportunities," she said.
