The classic online discount day CIBERLUNES, organized by the Chamber of Digital Economy of Uruguay (CEDU), continues to grow. The sixth edition resulted in 80% more users accessing the website in search of offers.

"It was an absolutely successful campaign," said the president of CEDU, Marcelo Montado, and explained that it surprised the participating companies, which quintupled their sales in the three days of sales. "People are getting used to buying online and Cyber Monday has become a day that consumers look forward to," he added.

One of the most striking data was the growth of participation in the older age groups. Although adults over 65 years old are the youngest group, it was the one that grew the most, their participation increased 19% over the previous year. "This shows that there is a shift towards digital, a generalization of online shopping in different age groups," said Montado.

Adults aged 25-34 made the most use of discounts (26%), then the 35-44 age group (21.75%), followed by those aged 45-54 (17.3%) and those aged 55-64 (16.35%).

The campaign had a mostly female audience (71.6%), with an increase in the use of mobile phones. Practically 4 out of 5 visitors did it from their mobile phone, 10% more than in 2016.

The Apparel sector was the most requested, followed by Electronics and Household Appliances, Travel, Bazaar and Home Decoration.

"This success speaks clearly of what is happening in Uruguay. The online demand is there, those companies that see it capitalize on these opportunities and CIBERLUNES is the ideal instrument for this. Now we must analyze the measurements, evaluate each of the results, continue improving and start preparing the November edition from the first day of July, which will surely be even better", concluded Montado.
