Have you ever thought about how connected we are to the internet?
That sporadic connection to the web that a short time ago we made from our desktop computers is well behind us. Today we are permanently online through our mobile devices and even our home appliances or private cars.
With the increase in connectivity, more and more data is being stored on the internet by individuals, companies and states. That is why the protection of this information, cybersecurity, is of particular relevance.
Our medical history, our organization's database, patents or state secrets, the operation of power plants or dams, are some examples of sensitive data that could theoretically fall into the hands of hackers.
How does Uruguay stand in terms of cybersecurity? What are the latest trends in this area at the international level?
In the last edition of La Mesa TIC of the year we talked to Marcelo Guinovart, programmer analyst and strategic planning director of AGESIC; Eduardo Mangarelli, Systems Engineer, dean of the Faculty of Engineering of Universidad ORT; Leonardo Martinez, systems analyst, chief information & security officer of Banco Santander; and Jorge Pereyra, Systems Engineer, director of Netgate and eXpand.
