This was the third edition of the "Smart Talent Day", organized by the Uruguay XXI Investment and Export Institute, an event in which leading national and international companies in the export of services showcased their business models.

The executive director of Uruguay XXI, Antonio Carámbula, told Efe that this activity has exceeded expectations every year compared to previous editions.

"This is no longer a portal to offer employment, although today there are more than 2,000 jobs offered, there are 23,000 users, 300 companies and is a portal that allows interaction with the public sector, private, educational offerings and potential workers in global services," he said.

He valued that Uruguay has been positioning itself "as an important" recipient of investment, producer and exporter of global services and stressed the leadership of the South American country in information technologies in Latin America.

For his part, the Uruguayan Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Pablo Ferreri, told Efe that such opportunities are "a clear expression" of the dynamism of the economy and "the strength that young people put into it".

"It is a showcase of the future, to see here more than 3,000 young people interacting with companies with the academic sector improving their skills by interacting with the world of the future fills one, first of all, with hope," he said.

For Ferreri, the interest of international companies in Uruguayan talent is "a clear sign" of confidence in the country, as well as in its economic stability and solidity.

Santiago Soto, deputy director of Uruguay's Planning and Budget Office, told Efe that his country has "incipient development" in what he believes is the future of work.

"It is always good news that they are looking for us. Uruguay stands out in particular for the skills that young people can develop, which are given to them by companies that can develop from Uruguay with its state-of-the-art infrastructure in information technology to the world," he said.

Likewise, representatives of the companies Pyxis and BASF, present at the meeting, valued the synergy with the young people of that country at the same time that they showed their satisfaction for the development of this type of meetings that has allowed them to attract new talents to their workforces.

"Smart Talent" is a program created by the Global Services portal of Uruguay XXI, which has the support of the Inter-American Development Bank and aims to promote the country's positioning as a strategic provider of corporate services, information technology, among others. EFE
