Reading time: 3 minutes

ÁNIMA opens enrollment for 2021 through the Pre ÁNIMA Virtual program. The educational proposal is aimed at young people from vulnerable contexts, who are between 14 and 16 years old and want to study 4th, 5th and 6th year of high school in administration or ICT (computer science).

Due to the health emergency, this year it was necessary to modify the format of the call and make it virtual through a virtual assistant (chatbot) developed with the company Pyxis. Interested young people can register through an online form and obtain information through WhatsApp, the ÁNIMA website and its social networks.

The call is divided into four phases: online registration form, online activities on Instagram, personal interviews with candidates and families, final draw.

Registration will be open from Monday 10 August until Sunday 20 September. You can access the form through this link anima.edu.uy/inscripciones2021, its social networks and WhatsApp 091808132.

What is ÁNIMA Bachillerato Tecnológico?

ÁNIMA is an educational organization with free access and financed through donations; it arises from the interest of a group of professionals committed to the education of young people living in disadvantaged socioeconomic contexts.

Born in 2016 with the aim of developing a new educational modality in Uruguay that integrates the world of education and work through dual training. It offers two study orientations (Administration and ICT), and we incorporate the world of work as a quality learning space, complementary to the classroom.

The proposal is aimed at young people who are in a situation of social vulnerability, providing the necessary tools for, among others, the strengthening of links with the world of work. ÁNIMA has the qualification of UTU-CETP as EMT in Administration and Computer Science, which allows young graduates to continue their education in third grade.

The proposal responds to the skills gap, generating the conditions for human and professional development of young Uruguayans for quality employment. ÁNIMA improves the levels of education completion by generating motivation in young people, who experience the value of training.

ÁNIMA is the first demonstrative experience of dual training in Uruguay for young people from vulnerable contexts, with experience in more than 190 training practices in more than 70 training companies. After four years we have managed to design and implement locally an innovative educational modality in the baccalaureate cycle with a high impact on education completion rates, educational continuity and labor market insertion.

This year ÁNIMA presented a project to bring dual training to more young Uruguayans with a franchise model in the 1st Call for Innovation and Skills of the International Labour Organization (ILO). 473 projects from almost 100 countries were presented, being among the five best projects in the world.

The Training Companies commit to receive one or more young people during the school period for 12 hours a week to carry out training practices. A training plan is designed which details the competencies to train the young person during the process and contribute to the apprentice's graduation profile. At the same time, a tutor is appointed within the company who will accompany, train and evaluate the trainee during the period. The apprenticeships are paid, in compliance with social laws.

Currently, 153 young people are studying at ÁNIMA and by 2021 there is room for 50 new students (25 for administration and 25 for ICT). It already has two generations of graduates.
