On the occasion of the last Expo Prado, the Rural Association of Uruguay organised the first Agro Hackathon, together with the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology and the British Embassy. More than 60 people participated, organised in 14 teams, with the challenge of using technology to solve everyday agricultural problems such as cattle rustling and the action of predators, improvements in grazing, or the optimisation of livestock feed.
In a new instalment of Window to the Future, we talked to the creators of two award-winning projects: Lucía San Román, who together with her team won first prize for developing a digital cowbell that helps prevent cattle rustling and the action of predators; and José Luis Chalar, who won second prize for his participation in the design of an application that helps optimise the feeding of cattle in feedlots.
