GoyPick won the eCommerce Startup Competition award, presented during the seventh edition of eCommerce Day in recognition of its contribution to digital entrepreneurship and the development of the e-business ecosystem.

Created by entrepreneurs and software company owners Juan Urraburu and Gerardo Estramil, it is the country's first robo-shopping service focused on solving digital sales delivery.

Installed in the Rivera y Requena car park, it offers a physical presence to businesses that sell only via the Internet, while at the same time presenting itself as an economical and functional solution for the delivery and collection of sales in the case of established businesses.

"The customer no longer has to wait to receive the product, nor does he need to coordinate delivery times. With GoyPick they can make a virtual purchase and in a matter of minutes have their item," Urraburu explained.

The proposal works on the basis of the purchase of a product at any time of the day, 365 days a year. Immediately after payment, users receive a message with a QR code that enables them to open the door of the shop where their purchase is located. By means of a robotic system, the item is placed on a tray and is ready to be picked up.

"Robotisation and automation reduce installation costs by about ten times compared to physical shops. This differential and immediate delivery are key to attracting more customers through traditional and e-commerce. In addition, GoyPick allows a company to deploy throughout the city at low cost by offering 24-hour delivery, seven days a week," explained the founder.

GoyPick offers large companies the possibility of renting an exclusive and personalised space for their products. Smaller businesses can use the service by paying a fee linked to the cubic metres used to install their items.

Urraburu explained that the idea of implementing a 100% robotised company arose a few years ago as a result of the global boom in e-commerce and the growth of the digital economy at the local level. The initiative materialised in February 2018, required an investment of approximately US$20,000, and will begin operations in mid-September.

The development of the venture was carried out by a team of six people including electrical engineers, systems specialists and shop builders.

In response to the interest shown by potential customers and after an exhaustive market analysis, the founders plan to open another ten shops in the coming year in different parts of Montevideo.
