The 3rd Meeting of Intelligent Cities has ended

Under the slogan "True stories of innovative cities", we closed two days of exchange of experiences and knowledge with national and regional references.

The activities were coordinated and organized by our Department of Sustainable and Smart Development with the aim of exchanging experiences and knowledge, generating spaces for reflection and planning, and making citizens aware of what a smart, sustainable and inclusive city is all about.

 

On the morning of the second day of the meeting, members of the company CPA developed the presentation User-centered design and co-creations of public services.

 

Another of the talks was about citizen innovation, collaborative economy and sustainable development, where we participated with our proposal of collaborative cowork Enlace.

 

Enlace is managed by our Social and Solidarity Economy Unit in coordination with the Social Policies Division of our Social Development Department.

 

It is a public cowork where more than 30 solidarity ventures and civil society organizations that are characterized by contributing to the improvement of their communities, from an environmentally friendly, participatory and socially inclusive perspective.

 

During the dissertation, the coordinator of Social and Solidarity Economy, Daniel Arbulo, highlighted one of the characteristics of the program: the Montevideo Time Bank. It consists of providing solidarity hours of those who use the center, destined to collaborate in other solidarity projects not installed in it.

 

The morning session also included a presentation on the initiatives Si lo venís a buscar es tuyo, Bicitour, an eco-sustainable product of the People's Republic of China School and Huertas en Montevideo.

 

At the same time, the talk Technology + Social Innovation + Inclusion: the smart sum was given by a member of the Smart City Congress of Barcelona. The first block closed with members of different parts of the public administration, who reflected on their roles within a smart city. Authorities from the Ministry of Tourism and Antel were present.

 

In the afternoon, a laboratory for the exchange of experiences and uses of the How to Go application was held. There, citizens had the opportunity to raise proposals, criticisms and perceptions of the use of the platform.

 

Sobre el final de la jornada, representantes de las plataformas de movilidad colaborativas WAZE y MOOVIT expusieron sus experiencias y aprendizajes. Durante su presentación, Pablo Ferrari -Waze- destacó que «Uruguay estuvo dentro de los cinco primeros países en determinar un límite de velocidad en sus calles».

 

For his part, Juan M. Palacio -Moovit- underlined that Montevideo has a better quality policy of open data, compared to other capitals in the region, "with very updated and accessible information".

 

The closing was attended by the secretary general of the commune, Fernando Nopitsch and the director of the Department of Sustainable and Intelligent Development, Cristina Zubillaga.
