The most innovative projects were presented in response to challenges proposed by companies from the Internet of Things (IoT), Healthcare, Banking and Agriculture sectors. The winners were Parking Finder, Sintomy, Totalpay and Smart Farmer respectively.
"Every year we are raising the level of demand and commitment that we ask of the participants. We haven't had a single team drop out in the whole process and we believe that we are really generating impact and interesting ventures that contribute to the country," said Denise Camou, Project Manager at CPA Innovation, during the opening of the event.
Sergio Delgado, director of the da Vinci Foundation, pointed out that "entrepreneurship is the spark of innovation and prosperity for society" and that these solutions will benefit everyone, while Enrique Topolansky, director of the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at ORT University, highlighted the ideas and work of all the applicants.
Parking Finder, the winning project in the Internet of Things (IoT) category, was developed by Juan Ignacio Prina, an electrical engineering student. It is an application that optimises the time spent in the use of parking spaces, as users can request the service, book and pay from their smartphone. The solution would benefit drivers, telephone companies and the city in general by facilitating parking.
On the other hand, Sintomy, the self-reporting platform for patients undergoing cancer treatment, a project by doctors Stephanie Stirling and Pablo Sansonetti and engineer Pablo Ferrero, aims to help care teams at each medical centre to monitor users in order to prevent complications and improve their quality of life.
Entrepreneur Glauco Muzzio, meanwhile, won the prize in the Banking category for his Totalpay solution, an electronic payment application for SMEs and professionals. It is an alternative that does not have fixed costs but per transaction, provides sales statistics to businesses and allows them to offer discounts to consumers.
Finally, the Smart Farmer solution, winner in the Agro category, seeks to improve profitability in dairy farms by defining the most appropriate diet for the animals, as well as providing information on the volume of grass available and its growth rate, as well as the productivity per batch. Entrepreneurs Naya de Souza, Marcelo Bonino and Javier Ciliuti created this application to optimise the use of pasture, which is the lowest cost feed for livestock.
Each of the winning teams of Emprendetón won US$ 1,000 as a prize and will have the possibility to be supported by Fundación da Vinci, CIE- ORT and CPA Innovation, obtaining the guidance of outstanding mentors who will help them to materialise and implement their projects.
