For the first time, the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technologies (Cuti) received in its offices of the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay (LATU) the authorities of Antel, with the aim of presenting the main lines of action for the coming years and analyze synergies that allow the industry to continue its growth path.
During the meeting the directive of the Chamber was present along with its president, Álvaro Lamé, as well as the president of Antel, Andrés Tolosa, who was accompanied by the VP Eng. Daniel Fuentes, the director Gustavo Delgado and the general manager of the state company Javier Emicuri.

Lamé presented the 2016-2018 management plan, which aims to develop an innovative technological ecosystem that provides growth opportunities for all industry players. The executive pointed out as the biggest challenge of the sector the lack of qualified human resources. As a solution to this situation, he mentioned the generation of talent and stressed the importance of raising awareness about the activity of local technology companies and continue betting on motivational training.
"This is the main objective. We have expectations of important actions and we believe that if we all align behind this cause, results will be achieved," he said.
Another problem considered by the Chamber was access to financing, which requires the creation of new instruments and the attraction of investors. The importance of generating a stable and internationally competitive regulatory framework was also mentioned.
The directive of Cuti raised a number of ideas for further discussion with the authorities of Antel. The first topic to be addressed will be the services provided by the International Data Center "Ing. José Luis Massera", which will be visited soon by Cuti's partners to see first hand the possibilities it offers, as well as its facilities. Emicuri pointed out that it is important for Antel to know the requirements of the industry. "We have advantages over other applications, we offer security and we are competitive.
In addition, we have the flexibility to come up with interesting solutions for the local industry," he said. In addition, Cuti's managers consulted the possibility of participating in the recently inaugurated incubator of electronics projects articulated by LATU, the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining and Antel, also leaving open the possibility of organizing other joint activities.
Cuti has 350 associated companies and the industry, which currently represents 1.8% of Uruguay's Gross Domestic Product, exports to more than 50 markets. Lamé closed the meeting reaffirming the intention to achieve collaborative work between the parties. "Antel has an excellent connectivity and datacenter infrastructure that the sector must take advantage of. There is a lot to do and there is a good harmony", he concluded.
