Reading time: 2 minutes

Until this Tuesday, the day before the start of Expo Prado 2017, there will be time to register and thus be able to participate in the second edition of the HackathonAgroThe event, a competition in which national teams of researchers, entrepreneurs and experts in information technology, agriculture and business must solve a challenge facing the Uruguayan agriculture in a period of 48 hours.

This activity will take place on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 September at the 112th Expo Prado, with a previous workshop on Friday 8, in a venture that is organized by the British Embassy, the Rural Association of Uruguay, the da Vinci Foundation and the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology (Cuti).

The challenge, the British Embassy explained to El Observador, will consist of presenting a business model and a minimum viable product or prototype, with the aim of solving one or more agricultural problems in Uruguay through the use of technology.

The challenges or problems to be solved during the activity will be proposed by institutions related to the agricultural activity on the starting day of the HackathonAgro.

The winners will receive tickets and a four-night stay in the United Kingdom to attend the "Game Changing Technologies for Agriculture and the Bioeconomy" conference and a visit to Harper Adams University, a leading university in agriculture and the production industry, where the winning team will meet with university officials and entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector.

Registrations, as indicated, will be open until Tuesday, September 5th on Cuti's website.

In 2016 the winning proposal of the HackathonAgro was a digital cowbell for sheep.

This competition of technology applied to agriculture was premiered at Expo Prado 2016.
