Thirty-one students from the 2015 and 2016 generations of what was originally a technicatura began the path to a bachelor's degree in computer science in a face-to-face class.

The study modality is virtual, through videoconferencing and platform, 70%, and the remaining 30% in person with a day every 15 days, so that students are scattered throughout the country and attend the ITR every two weeks.

According to UTEC's website, the career "has as training areas those linked to the lines of development / programming, testing and technological infrastructure. It has an intermediate title of Higher University Technician in Information Technologies that is obtained upon completion and approval of the fourth semester of the Study Plan".

ADDING STUDENTS

Last year, the course added a new venue in Fray Bentos and, this year, in Juan Lacaze (Colonia). On Monday, July 24, a lottery was held to choose the places for admission to the courses, which will begin on August 6.

In the latter location, only the first year of the course will be taught and then students will have to continue their education in Fray Bentos or Durazno, where this educational offer has continuity. The option of doing the first year in Juan Lacaze is part of a special UTEC project. There are 50 places available and 74 people have registered, so the first 50 people drawn by lot are the ones who will be admitted to the degree course.

The information technology industry is characterized by a high demand for employment.
