The 11th China-LAC summit held in Punta del Este was the most well attended of all the China-LAC summits held in Latin American cities.
It brought together some 2,400 foreign and domestic entrepreneurs, trade bodies, policy makers and media from China, Latin America and the Caribbean.
Uruguay XXI reported that this edition was the largest since the creation in 2007 of this space for trade and cooperation that takes place every year, alternately, in China and Latin America.
The China-LAC summit is promoted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and organized this time by the investment, export and country image promotion agency, Uruguay XXI.
More than 600 participants arrived from the People's Republic of China, compared to 150 at the last Latin American edition of the summit in Guadalajara, said Antonio Carámbula, executive director of the national export and investment promotion institute.
In addition, 836 attendees came from Latin American and Caribbean countries and 760 Uruguayan businessmen participated. In addition to these, a hundred media from the region and China attended to cover the event.
