AppCircus Montevideo 2017, the global competition organised by Claro Empresas and Samsung at a local level to award the best mobile app in Uruguay, selected Yo Calculo as the winner out of 38 entries.

"Apps no longer compete only with each other, but also have to be good enough to earn a place in the memory of any user's mobile phone," Aguiar said. In this sense, Ferrando added that "apps must solve problems or needs, 'doing the impossible'", a concept that refers to Samsung's leitmotif.

Responding to these aspects, with a proposal that facilitates tax settlement and financial management for individuals and sole proprietorships, Yo Calculo was crowned the best Uruguayan app of the year, and its director, Mathías Lehrer, was awarded a pass to the Mobile World Congress 2018 to be held in Barcelona and a Samsung Galaxy S8 device to record the unforgettable experience.

Second place went to Casttor, a platform for finding and managing talent for audiovisual productions, events or promotions; and third place was shared by Loog Guitars, with its app for learning to play this particular type of guitar with three strings, and Liga Bancomer MX, a tool that keeps users informed about the latest football updates in Mexico and Paraguay. All three projects were awarded with innovative Samsung Galaxy S8 hardware.

The finalists also included Sitter Go, which makes it easy to find babysitters; TATETI, which allows restaurant reservations; CityCop, which maps low and high security zones in the city; Effieseg, which focuses on energy saving; ParkingAp, which locates car parks according to the user's needs; and Destapa App, which has the latest information and tips on the craft beer industry.

At the end of the evening, giving a relaxed twist to the innovative and original character that sets AppCircus apart, guests were able to enjoy an interesting presentation that was part of the Tech & Beer 2017 series of talks by Samsung and Claro.

Rafael Atijas, founder of Loog Guitars, grabbed the audience's attention with stories about his company that served to portray the importance of collaboration and building bridges with different sectors to develop lasting and disruptive ventures. In addition, renowned musicians Dinamita Pereda, Javier Vaz Martins and Guille Gross gave a tech jam session performance using Samsung tablets and mobile phones, generating an original sound.
