AGROCOOPTECH

22/11/17

Next December 5th the technological ecosystem and Uruguayan agricultural cooperatives will meet at #AgroCoopTech.
Reading time: 2 minutes

The Cooperativas Agrarias Federadas, CAF will bring together producers from all sectors, leaders and managers of cooperatives and rural development societies, young people, entrepreneurs, companies, startups, incubators, accelerators and the general public to talk about how technologies in agriculture can improve competitiveness.

Today, the Uruguayan agricultural sector is one of the economic activities in the country that has incorporated the most technology in recent years, generating changes, technifying and accumulating intelligence in each process.

The changes in agriculture respond not only to the growing demand for food in the world but also to new consumption patterns, where there are more demands in terms of safety, quality, traceability, nutrients and a deep awareness of sustainability. All this speaks of an agricultural sector with a diversity of models that pose enormous challenges for the professionalisation and complexity of productive activity and the provision of services. Agricultural cooperatives must be attentive to these changes and respond to them in order to become increasingly competitive.

OPP notes in a recent study that the country is not isolated from the effect of automation on the labour market. And much less so in agriculture, which will be one of the sectors that will incorporate the most automation. But far from being a threat, technology can be the best ally to improve productivity in a country with an ageing population and a decreasing activity rate.

In addition, the range of jobs in agriculture is now opening up to new players such as software developers, robotics engineers, systems engineers, electromechanical engineers, programmers and all those who can provide the solutions that farmers and agricultural cooperatives need.

CUTI will be present at this event, incorporating its view and analysis from the perspective of one of its associated companies - ICA - who will be speaking in a block of the programme, on Technologies to gain Competitiveness.

They will be talking about all this and much more at #AgroCoopTech. CAF organises and invites, and counts with INIA, INEFOP and NxtpLabs as strategic allies.

It will be held from 9 am to 1 pm, in Sala Fundación Fucac (18 July 2017). Registration on line is required, limited places available. More information and registration at www.caf.org.uy/landing
