Register to participate in the first HackathonAGRO!

You will have 48hs to solve agricultural challenges through the use of technology. Winners will attend Agri-Tech East REAP Conference 2016!

Registration

Interested parties may register individually until 23:59 hours on Tuesday, 8 September 2016 until the maximum number of 40 participants has been filled (whichever comes first).

 

Based on an analysis of the registered profiles, multidisciplinary teams of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 people will be formed, in which the following roles will be present:

  • Agro-technical expert: agricultural engineer, researcher, veterinarian, technician, etc.
  • IT technical expert: web/mobile developer, programmer, designer, analyst, etc.
  • Business manager: administrative, commercial, marketing, etc. (optional profile) 

 

The Organisers shall ensure that at least one member of each team has knowledge of English in order to make the best use of the experience.

Teams will be announced at the start of the event. 

 

Those wishing to register a team with the required profiles from the same institution (company, university, etc.) must specify this on the Registration Form, subject to approval by the Organisers.

Cost of participation

HackathonAGRO 2016 will be free of charge for those registering as individuals and for teams from academic institutions.

 

For those registering a team from the same company, there will be a registration fee of 200 US dollars.

 

Participation includes a welcome kit, all meals during the two days at the times established by the Organisers, team work area, mentoring and presentations by experts in different areas. 

 

 

Tentative agenda

HackathonAGRO 2016 is an event that will run continuously from the formal opening on Saturday 17/9 at 9am until Sunday 18/9 at approximately 8pm. The teams will be able to continue developing their projects during the early hours of Sunday morning, for which they will have a comfortable working space. 

 

 

Mentors

The participating teams will have at their disposal national and international mentors in the different topics, with the aim of assisting the teams in their doubts and in the adaptation of their business models throughout the HackathonAGRO.

 

 

Jury

A jury composed of the Diamond Organisers and sponsors will evaluate the proposed solutions during the weekend, on Sunday 18 September 2016. The jury will select three winning teams.

 

 

HackathonAGRO 2016 Awards

 

First prize

The winning team will receive a return ticket to the UK, five nights' accommodation and participation in the Agri-Tech East REAP Conference 2016: Innovation for an agricultural revolution, which will take place on 9 November 2016 in Cambridge.

Attending this conference represents a unique opportunity to learn about the latest trends in agri-tech.

Gary Zimmer, President of Midwestern BioAg, internationally recognised for his passion and commitment to improving agriculture through the creation and maintenance of healthy soils, will be the keynote speaker at the conference.

 

Second & Third prize

To be defined (courses, subscriptions and mentoring, among others).
