The Cuti board received Jorge Grünberg, rector of the ORT University, and Mario Fernández, dean of the Faculty of Engineering of the ORT University, at its headquarters.

At the meeting, they exchanged ideas and projects to boost staff training in the sector, which has zero unemployment.

The aim of the meeting, according to Cuti president Álvaro Lamé, was to "strengthen the link between the two institutions".

"Academia and industry must work together to promote the growth of the area, which needs more trained people. Our intention is to provide solutions and that is why we encourage this type of meeting," he said.

Cuti presented to ORT authorities his management plan and the various initiatives that are being implemented to strengthen staff training.

Training

Aníbal Gonda, vice-president of Cuti's Human Capital Committee, pointed out that "the basis of this industry is people and that is why we are looking for growth strategies".

Among other points, the ORT authorities were informed about the b-IT programme, promoted by Cuti to train 4,000 technicians in four years, through a project financed with 4,000,000 dollars from the National Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (INEFOP) and 1,000,000 dollars from the industry. "We want them to know our plans and we can all add to them," Gonda said.

In turn, Fernández expressed his willingness and satisfaction to collaborate with the proposals and even to work with ORT's network of centres in the interior of the country.

Grünberg, meanwhile, stressed the importance of "bringing academia and industry together to promote more and better IT training".

ORT's rector put forward a series of complementary ideas, aimed at "strengthening the sector and contributing to improving the educational offer".

The meeting took place in the framework of a series of meetings that Cuti is holding with various organisations, including the Ministries of Economy, Foreign Affairs, Labour, Industry, the University of the Republic and ANTEL.
