As a result of more than a year of coordinated work between the Chamber of Digital Economy of Uruguay (CEDU) and the Faculty of Economics and Administration of the University of the Republic (Udelar), the Professional Training Program in E-Commerce was created, which will be coordinated and dictated in the orbit of Continuing Education.

"We celebrate the realization of this initiative, which arose from the interest of wanting to contribute to the professionalization of a sector of commerce that is experiencing a notorious development and consolidation worldwide. In this sense, we are proud to be part of this paradigm, which installs new business models, to contribute our knowledge and experience to the generations that seek to lean towards e-Commerce, "said Damian Lachaga, one of the directors of CEDU.

In the same line, the Academic Coordinator of Graduate and Master's Degree in Marketing of the School of Economics, Fernando Lorenzo, expressed his joy and agreement for being able to offer a course of these characteristics in the Udelar, understanding that "it will be a great opportunity for many young people who want to seek a job in a sector in constant growth". "The course comes to fill a gap in the current training, in an area of work that, as a result of the reality itself, has become very relevant," he said.

According to Lorenzo, the program is designed to present, from a professional perspective, those key elements that extend the activities of traditional commerce to e-commerce. To do this, it will seek to integrate theory, market studies and experiences of actors in the digital ecosystem, in a proposal that far from aiming to train in detail, seeks to focus on more practical aspects on the relevant issues of e-Commerce.

"The idea is to focus on content, but also working on skills and attitudes. Knowledge is perishable, especially in this area, but the core elements, the way of questioning reality and approaching it, the need for multidisciplinary approaches, teamwork, critical analysis of reality, the way of solving problems and analyzing opportunities, the sense of responsibility and proactivity, among other aspects, will be key in the performance of these graduates," he said.

The course will consist of four modules, each of which will have a final assessment. The first will focus on retail, e-Commerce and the consumer in the digital age. The second will address human resources, legal aspects and IT platforms in e-Commerce. The third module will be on Digital Marketing and e-Commerce dashboard, while the last one will deal with the core elements for the development of an e-Commerce strategy.

The program, designed for people who have passed at least the sixth year of secondary education, will begin in April and will last six months. Classes will be taught by zoom and the Moodle platform will also be used to support activities and documentation.

The price of the course is $ 59,400. This amount can be paid in cash or up to six installments with OCA or VISA cards. CEDU members will have a 25% discount. Likewise, different discounts will be applied for students and graduates of FCEA, non-member companies of CEDU that send more than one participant and trade associations with an agreement with Continuing Education.
