Convinced that the inequality of opportunities between men and women is reversed with the commitment and active participation of each member of society from their role, the Chamber of the Digital Economy of Uruguay (CEDU) created the mentoring program "Despegate" in order to strengthen ties between SMEs with active sales through online channels, led by women and expert mentors in different areas of digital business.
"Those of us who are part of this organization have and maintain a commitment to the development of the business fabric, particularly in the digital economy. With our eyes set there, and aware of the momentum that is taking the role of women entrepreneurs, we wanted to contribute from our place with a contribution of knowledge and business experiences," said Natalia Macri, CEO of Oferta Exportable and vice president of CEDU.
The main objective of the program is to strengthen and professionalize the digital business of SMEs led by women, through a six-month mentoring process, as well as to support businesswomen and entrepreneurs to improve the effectiveness of their digital channel. At the same time, this initiative offers the opportunity for networking and knowledge sharing for both the mentored and the mentors.
For the first edition, a registration period was opened, from March 24th to April 15th, for CEDU members who want to participate as mentors. To do so, they must have experience in digital business, in the areas of Platforms and ICT, Means of Payment, Logistics and Marketing, and have time available to hold monthly meetings with their mentor for 6 months.
In the same way, CEDU invites women entrepreneurs "SMEs" with active sales through an online channel to register for the "Despegate" program to receive mentoring. Those who wish to take part can register between April 20 and May 14. During the process, questions will be asked about the basic indicators of their online sales and, based on the answers, CEDU's mentoring committee will bring together the selected women in a virtual instance where they must present their companies to the mentoring team, where the mentor-mentee duo will be defined.
Regarding the realization of the program, Macri stressed the importance of being able to offer activities of these characteristics, which promote the collaborative spirit. "Decision-making often becomes a solitary path and this solitude is not always enjoyed. It is enriching to find on the road, an expert who generously and unselfishly is willing to share his or her travel experience. We would like the mentored women to find in their mentors, a source of inspiration and wisdom that contributes to the improvement of their business development," she said.
Detailed information about the "Despegate" program, as well as registration forms, are available on the website www.cedu.org.uy and on the chamber's social networks.
