According to a survey conducted by the consulting firm Factum, the number of users who bought during the 13th edition of CIBERLUNES held in October grew by 9% compared to the previous year, showing that the event organized by the Uruguayan Chamber of Digital Economy (CEDU) is consolidated as one of the most important commercial dates in the country.
The data reflects that 29% of Uruguayans made purchases of goods or services during the day of online discounts and there was an increase among those who decided to postpone or advance purchases to coincide with this special date.
In turn, the main e-Commerce event in Uruguay maintained a "very positive" evaluation of the shopping experience and the prices obtained, as highlighted by users. 87% said it was a "gratifying" instance and 76% described it as "very advantageous" when evaluating prices.
More than 50% of users chose to search for and pay for products online. Although it is a lower percentage than the one reached during the CIBERLUNES in May, the data still maintains the parameters registered a year ago.
In addition, there was a growth in the number of consumers who prefer to pay for their purchases 100% online, registering 65% in total. In this CIBERLUNES, the trend regarding the destination of purchases was maintained, the vast majority of which were made for members of the household. Even in almost half of the cases in which the recipient was the interviewee him/herself, the purchase was shared with other people. Purchases intended exclusively for the purchaser reached 35% of the participants.
In terms of user spending, the latest edition of the country's main e-Commerce event presented different realities depending on the categories. Factum's study shows that the average spending increased considerably in categories such as clothing, household appliances, perfumery and food.
Meanwhile, the report explains that the average expenditure recorded by category showed that in the most expensive items were purchased products of lower unit value compared to a year ago.
The notorious growth of CIBERLUNES and the interest it arouses in consumers make this date to be considered relevant for companies, being more and more those who join the initiative, which takes place only twice a year, reaching more than 100 in the last edition.
Likewise, the study showed that CIBERLUNES in October 2020 was positioned as the best discount date for 44% of those interviewed, followed by the VAT Discount (40%) and Black Friday (28%), positioning itself as the date with the best discounts in Uruguay. In turn, Cyber Monday appears especially well valued as a discount date among people under 35 years old and people of high socioeconomic level.
