Reading time: 3 minutes

Ingenio, the business incubator of the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay (LATU), held a special closing of the year, where everything had to do with the number three: three activities (DemoDay, Graduation and video game exhibition), goals accomplished in the last three years, on 3 December.

On Thursday 3 December, Ingenio, LATU's business incubator, closed the year with the 3deCierre event. The Director of Ingenio, Rafael García, together with Jorge Moleri, Director of the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII), gave the welcoming remarks. ANII's Softlandings Uruguay programme convened the second annual edition of its DEMODAY, followed by the incubator graduation and a year-end toast. All this took place at the Exhibitor's Club of the LATU Technology and Events Park. The event culminated with a video game showcase of the companies incubated at Ingenio.

Fine-tuning

The Director of the incubator highlighted the coordination and execution of the Softlandings Uruguay programme, which has achieved in 3 years the objectives set for 5 years. Currently, twelve foreign start-ups are growing and developing in our country, which is why Ingenio was recognised with the Softlandings seal awarded by the International Business Innovation Association, being the first incubator in Uruguay to receive it. Finally, she highlighted a fact that worries the entrepreneurial ecosystem: "Of the 60 entrepreneurs that we currently incubate, only 8 are women, we must work and strive to match the figure".

For his part, Moleri stressed the effort that has been made to achieve the growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country: "We need you to criticise, complain and propose to continue growing in order to strengthen the ecosystem".

#DEMODAY

Softlandings Uruguay held its second DEMODAY of the year, in which seven of its companies funded and incubated in Ingenio gave their Pitch in front of the audience. The participants were:

- Wisboo: Online software for educators to create their own educational portal

- SinRutina: Monthly subscription service for free and unlimited access to physical activity centres.

- IntelAg: Tool helps farmers collect land and environmental data in a simple way

- MerIT: Online HR service to assess candidates through interactive games

- Time Points: Platform to measure and manage customer experience in real time

- for Nobly: Point-of-sale terminal supporting retail business management

- WeHaus: Platform to control a house from any mobile device

Mission accomplished

The event continued with the graduation of the companies Innvenio and Café Costura. Mariela Zarzabal, Director of the sewing venture, expressed her gratitude for the support provided by the incubator in her early days: "Ingenio was like a father to me. I was very disorganised and they helped me to stop and think. They organised me. I started on my own and having someone like Ingenio to support me was great.

Finally, video games

After the graduation, the end-of-year toast was not long in coming and was accompanied by lots of fun as the incubated videogame companies had the opportunity to showcase their creations. Light Arrow Games, Kraken Bit, Golden Bite, Polyraptor Games, The Good Guys, Curse Box Studios, My Box Game Studio and Pincer Game Studio previewed the Gamelab Montevideo that took place on Tuesday 8 December.
