What is TestingUy?
TestingUy was created in Uruguay in 2013 by a group of people passionate about testing, with the aim of developing the Testing and QA community in Uruguay and the region.
TestingUy is organized by Claudia Badell - Infragistics, Federico Toledo - Abstracta, Guillermo Skrilec - GeneXus Consulting, and Gustavo Guimerans - Software Testing Center.
Testing is a fundamental activity within software development in order to achieve quality products. The improvement of quality benefits all of us as citizens, since we use software daily for procedures, services, and other activities. It also helps us to distinguish ourselves in the international market for our high levels of quality, achieving more competitive positions.
TestingUy seeks to create a meeting place to share experiences and knowledge about testing and software quality.
The only one of its kind in the region
This experience is unique in the region, as there are many technology events, but this is the first one focused specifically on Testing and QA.
The event consists of two days of talks, workshops and debates, where everyone interested in the subject can participate.
In 2014 there have been three editions of the event, with a call of more than 300 people from the industry and academia in the last edition. People from different countries have participated: Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Spain and the United States.
It is worth highlighting the importance of having this type of meeting in Uruguay to promote the professionalization of testing, and to call attention to the region, indicating that Uruguay has the best professionals working and researching in the field.
Since mid-2015, in addition to the annual event, a space for bimonthly meetings between the most adept has been generated, where "open space" activities, talks and workshops are held. These activities are free of charge and are provided by enthusiasts in the discipline and companies that support this initiative.
By and for the community
This event has as a premise since its first edition that is completely free for attendees. This is achieved thanks to the companies of the organization and the support of sponsors and sponsors who collaborate financially and with diffusion.
The event has the support of the most important universities in Uruguay, and different educational institutions.
TestingUy 2017 has been declared of cultural interest by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
2017 Edition
TestingUy 2017 will take place on May 15th and 16th at the Torre de las Comunicaciones Complex.
On Monday May 15 in the morning, there will be 5 workshops on different topics, with a duration of 2 to 4 hours. In the afternoon we will have round tables integrated by Michael Bolton and different referents of the industry, where topics such as the testing industry, testing in development teams, and education in testing will be addressed.
On Tuesday, May 16th we will have 11 conferences on different topics, given by professionals from the region, and we will end the event with the Keynote of Michael Bolton where he will present on Rapid Software Testing with simultaneous translation.
Michael Bolton is one of the most important figures in Testing worldwide, and this is the first time he comes to Uruguay to share his experience with us.
Michael Bolton in Uruguay is financed with funds from ANII through the "Tools for Innovation" call, an instrument that finances the hiring of international experts with knowledge that is not available in the country.
