Since 2016 Quanam is partner of Hortonworks, one of the leading providers of Big Data platforms, specialized in the creation, distribution and support of modern data applications based on an open source approach to all its components.
Hortonworks runs an annual competition to recognise customers who have generated real business value, with each winner exemplifying significant achievements and significant results achieved through the use of the platform. The judging panel was comprised of a group of industry experts, including Bernard Marr and Philip Carnelley.
The winning solution is a partnership project with Genlives, a company that offers genomic studies, an assistance tool for the clinical classification of genomic variants with the aim of accelerating the diagnostic process and the causes of genetic diseases through the use of Big Data and Natural Language processing, bringing the application of next generation sequencing (NGS - Next Generation Sequencing) to the medical practice in a clinical context.
The idea of the project has arisen thanks to the Information and Communication Technologies for Verticals (ICT4V) centre and its implementation has received the support of the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII).
Eng. Fernando López, Big Data specialist and project leader for Quanam, in the context of the Data Works Summit 2018 in the city of Berlin, was present at the Luminaries Dinner of Hortonworks receiving the award.
