Reading time: 2 minutes

Uruguay XXI's ProTIC program will benefit with 136,000 dollars the promotional actions of nine small and medium-sized companies in the information and communication technologies sector. The selected SMEs plan to enter markets in Latin America, the United States and Europe, which according to the executive director of the institute, Antonio Carámbula, will collaborate with the international positioning of the country.

The ProTIC program of the Uruguay XXI Institute, aimed at financing international trade action plans of small and medium-sized companies that develop information and communication technologies (ICT), will support the implementation of eight internationalization plans that will support nine companies in their insertion into markets in the region, the United States and Europe.

The selected companies presented their business strategies with a budget of more than 290,000 dollars. The investment and export promotion institute will support with 136,000 dollars for the implementation of promotion actions planned by the companies.

In this case the companies were: Abstracta, Análoga, Capicua, Ebizmarts, GPS Gay, Idatha with Quanam, MVD Technologies and Switch. Four of the eight plans selected by the program defined the United States as a priority market, three others defined Latin American countries and one of them defined Europe as a priority market.

Most of the plans are associated with the commercialization of high value-added technological solutions, with components of automation, business analytics - a set of organizational procedures and tools used to obtain information, analyze data and propose solutions - and artificial intelligence.

The main activities planned include the contracting of "business development" - entities specialized in accelerating the implementation and development of the business - in the markets defined as targets, the opening of offices abroad, and other activities to promote and position the companies and their solutions, such as public relations actions, digital marketing and launch events.

The ProTIC program requires the development of internationalization plans focused on one or more markets, and co-finances up to $20,000 per company, not to exceed 70% of the total expected cost of the project.

"We want this tool to be as democratic as possible, so that potential interested businessmen are informed and can access it," said the executive director of Uruguay XXI, Antonio Carámbula. "It is a way of making public the destination of public resources and it is a recognition to the selected companies whose internationalization plans will collaborate with the international positioning of the country," he added.

The contract signing ceremony was held on Wednesday 10th at the Development Corporation, with the attendance of the institute's Global Services Support Program team and representatives of the beneficiary companies.

ProTIC is a tool implemented in 2012 and promoted by the Global Export Services Program of Uruguay XXI with funding from the Inter-American Development Bank.
