On Tuesday, June 26 Cuti will hold an event focused on the Blockchain, undoubtedly one of the most disruptive technologies in the world today, which is known as the technology behind Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, but is actually capable of impacting the activity of various productive and service sectors.
At the event, which will take place at the Sheraton Montevideo Hotel from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., national and international companies will present projects developed with this technology for the insurance, logistics, telecommunications, food and finance industries.
In turn, representatives of state agencies will give their views on the impact on public activity.
The presentations will be focused on the opportunities and challenges that this technology represents, and not so much on technical aspects, as Santiago Balestié, Cuti's innovation and transversality executive, pointed out.
Balestié said that this time they will not talk about cryptocurrencies but about what he understands are the "most valuable attributes" of the Blockchain, which are "the decentralization of control, traceability, transparency and security that it allows".
The Cuti executive also warned that it is not a perfect technology that represents a solution for all companies, but that each possible use must be analyzed to understand whether it is appropriate or not to apply it. "But the potential to act on many industries such as logistics, insurance and health, among others, is immense," said Balestié.
Examples and ongoing projects
On June 26, the industries and local executives that will address and show examples of blockchain use will be: Infuy - Insurance-; InMind - Telecommunications-; KONA - Logistics-; PowerLedgers - Transversal project-; AGESIC - will provide the vision from the public sector-; Central Bank of Uruguay - CPA Ferrere Consulting; Deloitte and IBM.
Also, projects that are starting to be put together and are exploring the value of blockchain will be presented. One of these companies is Infuy, which has created an initiative for the development of blockchain pilots to allow organizations and / or companies to join the disruption.
The requirements for projects for the event, set by Infuy are as follows:
- The project must be limited in scope
- Must prove an innovative blockchain idea or concept
- It is essential that the use of blockchain is justified.
- It will be implemented using Rootstock (RSK) as a platform.
- The resulting code will be open source and will be made public on github under an Infuy and/or RSK repository.
Those projects that have a social good as an objective will be given preference.
Infuy will give selected projects the possibility to realize a fully functional pilot or project (depending on the scope and size of the project) and an instance to test the presented idea on blockchain, completely free of charge.
