Minister Cosse from Shenzhen: "Uruguay being stable is a great opportunity".

The Minister of Industry, Carolina Cosse visited the city of Shenzhen, in the framework of the tour she is carrying out in China together with several businessmen. "They really appreciate the fact that we have come together companies and government," she said.

In conversation with Montevideo Portal, the Minister of Industry Carolina Cosse highlighted the drive and development of the city of Shenzhen and recalled that it was created in 1979 with 30 thousand inhabitants and today it has 11 million and 22 million people pass through it.

 

Cosse said that in 2014, in another visit he made to the city, they were initiating a project of electric public transport and today all public transport has this modality.

 

The delegation held meetings with leading technology companies in the city, such as ZTE and Huawei, and held a seminar with China's export agency, as well as a meeting between technology companies from both countries.

 

"They appreciate the fact that we have come together, companies and government, they see the size of the mission and value the importance we are giving it," said the minister, who highlighted the possibilities of Uruguay to position itself as a regional technology hub.

 

"It is very important that there has been an expressed willingness of Xi Jinping and our president Tabaré Vázquez to forge a strategic partnership, that is present all the time in the talks," he added.

 

Asked about the possibilities of advancing in the different exchanges, regardless of the signing of an FTA, the minister replied: "We have to offer them cooperation, infrastructure and turn Uruguay's stability into an opportunity. Uruguay's stability is a great opportunity for them to develop the Latin American market".
