Call for Prototype Development received 16 applications

The Call for Prototype Development of the Julio Ricaldoni Foundation (FJR) received 16 applications. A total of 64 entrepreneurs are involved in the projects.

The registration period for this call, which will provide up to $130,000 and specialized advice to technology-based ventures that need to demonstrate their technical feasibility through the development of a prototype and/or test, closed on January 31. 

 

A Selection Committee composed of representatives from the School of Engineering, Ingenio, Incuba Electro, and the FJR Board and technical team will be in charge of the evaluation and selection of the projects to be supported. The selected teams are expected to start working in March.

 

Applications were received from various areas of knowledge: food engineering, smart devices, environmental engineering, video games and virtual reality, collaborative learning, image processing and artificial intelligence, forest biorefineries, internet of things, medical technology and health, energy efficiency and renewable energy, agronomy and agriculture and effluent treatment, among others. 

 

The Call for Proposals stated as a requirement that the teams be integrated by at least one student, alumnus or teacher of the School of Engineering (Udelar), among which regional centers with Fing reference services will also be considered.

 

Cycle of workshops

 

For the second consecutive year, the FJR organized a series of workshops to support those interested in applying to the call, in which more than 58 entrepreneurs participated. The workshops dealt with: Project Planning and Monitoring, Management and Budgeting, and Effective Communication and Presentations.

 

This call is part of the Entrepreneurship Promotion Program (ProFE) of the FJR. Since 2007, this institution has supported 46 projects in their technical validation. 

 

The Call for Prototype Development 2017 was carried out with the sponsorship of Santander Universities.
