What is it about?

It is a database shared in thousands of computers, without a single server that centralizes as usual.

Some compare it to an open ledger, of which everyone on the network keeps a copy; this explains why it is impossible to hack.

Such a system would serve, for example, to make smart contracts, which would not require the intermediation of a notary or a lawyer.

Today we focus on our country. How does Uruguay stand before this technology? Are the conditions in place to start generating these databases from here? Can we become a development pole of blockchain technology in Latin America?

We discuss it in this new edition of La Mesa TIC with four specialists on the subject; Ignacio Varese, Computer Engineer with MBA, co-Founder and CEO of BlockBear; Maximiliano Maneiro, manager of New Technologies of AGESIC, the agency of the Presidency of the Republic responsible for promoting the development of digital government and the information society in Uruguay; Nicolás Ribeiro, Computer Engineer from the University of the Republic, a pioneer in the country when in 2012 he created the first large-scale cryptocurrency mining farm in Uruguay, which remained top 5 in the world during 2013; and Pablo Coirolo, Agronomist Engineer, CEO and founder of Light 47, a Liechtenstein-based company that raises funds and advises entrepreneurs.
