Data Management has become increasingly relevant and has gone from being an exclusive IT management issue to become a business strategy issue. The massive availability of data requires incorporating a comprehensive management approach, which considers all points of view of its proper treatment. Otherwise, algorithms will deliver poor results and data scientists will spend more time cleaning data than finding business insights. Data Management also faces regulatory challenges imposed by increasing regulatory restrictions, which require organizations to act assertively. In this context, a mature and internationally recognized Data Management framework is of paramount importance.
DAMA International is a non-profit association dedicated to evolving the concepts and practices of Data and Information Management.
The DMBoK - Data Management Body of Knowledge is the reference book in Data Management published by DAMA and brings together the proposed framework and best practices. The body of knowledge is organized around the "DAMA Wheel" which has 11 knowledge areas, at the center of the data wheel the Data Governance as the supervision part and as spokes of the wheel the other 10 knowledge areas as the execution component.
In the course "DAMA Framework for Data Management" he proposes to use DMBok and the "DAMA Wheel" as a framework to achieve operational efficiency, financial profitability and competitive advantage from better information-based decision making.
At the end of the course participants will understand the value of data in organizations and the characteristics that make it an asset unlike any other. In addition, they will understand the purpose of each DMBoK2 data management knowledge area and its context diagrams.
It is oriented to:
- Professionals who in their daily work create, distribute and/or analyze information.
- People who work in technology such as systems development, software architecture, database administration, among others.
- People who fulfill managerial roles such as technology managers, technology project managers, Chief Data Officer, Chief Data Scientist, developers and technology consultants, among others.
- Decision makers who are interested in getting more out of the data they use.
The course will be taught by two international consultants in Data Management with CDMP certification by DAMA International: Christian Vázquez (CDMP, EDMA) and Ramón Hernández (CDMP, PMP, CCFL).
The course will also motivate to gather a community of interested people with the intention of forming a chapter of DAMA Uruguay, an initiative that is already being promoted by a work team.
