The Regional Fund for Digital Innovation in Latin America and the Caribbean (FRIDA) announces its 2017 call to fund and recognize initiatives that promote the development of the Internet and encourage the adoption of digital solutions to respond to socioeconomic challenges in the region. Through the 2017 call, the FRIDA Program will award two prizes and a grant this year. Applicants will have until Friday, June 23 to submit a summary of their project.
FRIDA AWARDS
Two awards will be given in this cycle. For the first award, applications aligned with three of the FRIDA Program's thematic categories will be accepted: Internet Development; Internet and Participation; and Technologies and Community. The second prize, on the other hand, will be for projects led by women that promote gender equality through technology. The winners will receive 5 thousand dollars, a trip to participate in the Internet Governance Forum in Geneva from December 18 to 22, and support to access networking and institutional strengthening.

FRIDA GRANTS
In the case of the Call for Grants, financial support will be given to a single project under the thematic category "Internet Development." Proposals will be accepted that seek to deploy innovative solutions for the development of an open, stable and secure Internet, including topics such as access, infrastructure, internet of things, IPv6, cybersecurity, open standards and internet governance. The support will be US$ 20 thousand dollars and the winning entity will have 12 months to complete the execution of activities.
