Campus Party vibrated in the Punta del Este Convention Center

Campus Party, the largest festival of innovation, technology and creativity in the world came to Uruguay for the first time thanks to Movistar and the Municipality of Maldonado.

 

From March 15 to 17, the Punta del Este Convention Center vibrated with a full agenda of talks on three simultaneous stages, hackathons, workshops and innovation challenges with the participation of more than 4,000 people.

 

The festival brings together the entire local ecosystem: universities, communities, companies and the public sector in a unique environment. 900 campuseros from all over Uruguay and the region camp out in the venue in specially designed tents, enjoying 72 hours of non-stop content.

 

The Opening Ceremony included the words of the Minister of Tourism, Liliam Kechichián; the Mayor of Maldonado, Enrique Antía; the Director of Campus Party Uruguay, Juan Manuel Petrissans; and the Marketing Director of Movistar Uruguay, Fernando Leis.

 

Also in attendance were the directors of Campus Party Latin America and Campus Party Global, directors of partner institutions and companies, and prominent international and local speakers.

 

DAY 1 - March 15 The first day of the event featured keynotes from speakers such as: Jon Maddog Hall, founder of Linux, who spoke about Programming in the 21st Century. Fredi David Vivas, founder of RockingData, who spoke about how to innovate using BigData and Data Science.

 

César Valdés, CIO and CDO of Telefónica Chile, who spoke about how we will define success in the future. Ricardo Petrissans, President of LGFI and Director of MakeFutureWorks, who spoke about the jobs of the future and our destiny as a society.

 

Hackathons, workshops and sponsor proposals were also launched, including experiences with simulators, virtual reality, augmented reality and entertainment.

 

DAY 2 - March 16 Some of the keynote talks on the second day include: Mateo Salvatto, MIT Under 35 Founder of Háblalo!", who told his experience about how you don't need to be great to change the world.

 

Avedis Boudakian, Co-Founder & CCO The Electric Factory, who spoke about innovating on a large scale. Paco Ragageles, Co-Founder of Campus Party, with his talk #FeeltheFuture.

 

Chema Alonso, Chief Data Officer of Telefónica, with his talk Fake News, Big Data & Artificial Intelligence Neil Harbisson, Cyborg and Visual Artist, with his talk on the rebirth of our species. Miguel San Martín, Electronics Engineer - NASA, with his talk on the challenges of the Curiosity Rover Descent on Mars.

 

Haldo Spontón, Head of AI & Business Transformation Globant, with his talk on Artificial Intelligence: from the technical to the creative. A live interview with Cris Morena, Argentine actress, host, entrepreneur and TV producer, creator of the most recognized youth series.

 

DAY 3 - March 17 Some of the speakers on the third day include: Julio Rezende, Founder of Habitat Mars; Andrés de León, COO of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies; and Daniel Morales from E-Sports Account Manager Latin America RIOT. You will also enjoy the Final of the League of Legends Uruguay Movistar National League 2019.
